Balsamiq Mockups is a rich mockscreen creator app which has tons and tons of UI components available (If you still want more, there are options import components! ). This app is available in Online(free!) as well as in Desktop version(79$), and other versions for Confluence, JIRA, XWiki.

I had previously reviewed a portable screen mockup software, Pencil, but Balsamiq Mockups definitely stands out as it is powerful and fully loaded compared to its alternatives. This app is loaded heavily with 75 built-in UI controls and more than 100 icons. Additional controls can be downloaded from MockUpsToGo Site which has many user contributed controls which can be imported to our editor and reused.

MockScreen Controls

You can try out the online free version of this app but it has few limitations

• You need active Internet connection (Obvious)
• Cannot work on multiple mockup screens simultaneously
• Insert Images in Mockup components.
• Change the default Comic Sans font.

For full fledged features buy the downloadable version or try the demo desktop version. Adobe Air is required for running the Desktop version

When we tried deleting folder this error is displayed

Unlocker displays the apps which currently accesses the files/folders on which we are trying edit or modify. For example, when we try to eject our usb drive, we get an error saying that it cannot be ejected since its in use. But the error message is so generic that we cannot make out which application is accessing that drive, so that we can stop it.

We do have a workaround for this – Install unlocker.

Once unlocker is installed, it can be invoked by right clicking the locked file and select ‘Unlocker’.

A window is displayed which contains the list of application which has locked the file under interest. Once we find out the application, either we can manually close it or choose ‘unlock’ option. (Do the same for delete/move/rename operations as well).

Many a times our antivirus might lock the file present in the removable devices stopping us from ejecting, sometimes does the explorer.

1. Type Secpol.msc and select ‘User Rights Assignment’ under ‘Local Policies’ folder
2. In the Policy column, double-click Debug programs and Add User or Group

Pressing the ‘New Movie Master’ Button from the toolbar (Cntrl+M) will invoke a screen as shown below. Just enter the title and click ‘Ok’ to get all the movie info and the posters automatically added to your database.

Tip: Instead of adding the title and the browsing for the movie file, just browse for the movie file first; the movie title will be added automatically by extracting the name of the file.

The service which provides the movie info can be modified from the preferences.

There are various views in the Statistics window which displays charts and helps us in analyzing all the movies in our repository in a single shot.
